A Note from Ambrose Orchards
Thank you for giving Ellie Sue a place to belong. She has been loved here, and now she gets to be loved there too. That is the very best kind of journey. We are so glad she has agreed to work here with us too!
Ellie Sue
Who she is
Ellie Sue was found sitting quietly beside the old rocking chair at the edge of the Orchard, wrapped in a soft apron and holding her breath — like she was afraid to take up space. She didn’t cry when Edgar the Bear reached for her. She just looked up with wide, serious eyes… and pointed to the faint little mark on her forehead. It’s a booboo that never fully healed — one she’s had for as long as anyone can remember. And when someone asks about it, Ellie Sue just shrugs and says, "Some things stay."
She doesn’t like loud voices or quick movements, and sometimes she hides behind the other dolls until she feels safe enough to be seen. But once she lets you in, she gives the softest little hand squeezes and leans her head gently against your arm like a whispered, "Thank you."
How she started as the Official Tour Guide of the Orchard
Ellie Sue is learning that even if you’ve been hurt, even if you carry a mark no one else understands, you’re still worthy of love, gentleness, and a safe forever place to belong. She decided, after seeing some of the other kids showing up with marks, that she could help them too.
And most days, she’s here to walk you through the orchard… and introduce you to the dolls who are ready to find their forever home.
Her favorite comfort is a tiny cloth napkin with daisies in one corner — she rubs the edges when she’s scared or needs to be brave.
